Description
Spend a term immersed in Jupiter Artland’s magical landscape. Designed by the Learning Team, these sessions are all about escaping screens and reconnecting with nature. Join us in the woods where we’ll set up camp for a day of creative activities and adventurous play. Whether its climbing or collaging, skipping or sketching, den-building or drawing there’s something to engage every child. Our approach to education combines the forest school ethos with the creative process, offering a truly unique experience. So, if a swing in the trees, some messy art, a lounge in the hammock and a toasted marshmallow around the campfire surrounded by world-class art sounds good to you come and join us for Friday Afternoon Artsparks!
Important Information:
All children must bring a backpack they can carry themselves with everything they need for the day including a water bottle, snack and packed lunch. Please avoid nut-based foods in case other children have serious allergies.
What To Bring:
A full set of waterproofs including waterproof trousers and wellies/durable outdoor shoes is an essential requirement for a day outdoors in the woods. Activities can be messy and muddy, so it is recommended children wear old clothes. Warm layers are essential, hats, gloves and scarves should be brought to all sessions in the cooler months. Even in summer, long sleeves and long trousers are recommended to avoid stings and scrapes. In the summer months, children must bring a sunhat and sun cream to avoid overexposure to the sun. It is recommended to bring a spare change of clothes. Be prepared for all Scottish weather possibilities!
Travel and Parking:
The silver entry gates will be open prior to the start of the session, if they are not, please use the control panel at the right side of the gates to call the Estate Office who will buzz you in. Please follow the main road past the green hills, through the open fields, over two cattle grids and past the large sculpture of a flower. The gravel carpark will be on your right-hand side surrounded by beech hedges. You will then walk up to the main Steadings area. Do not approach the orange house as this is a private residence.
The Steadings area is strictly no access to vehicles. Please do not park in the disabled car park, unless you are a badge holder. When driving through Jupiter please be aware there is a 5mph speed limit – this is for the safety of your children and our animals, so please observe it. Please see the Visit Section of our website for directions before setting out on your journey. Do not use satellite navigation devices, as you will end up in field.
Lunch/Snacks
Please prepare a pack lunch for your child to eat during lunch time, do not send your child to us with any form of nuts or peanuts in the interest of safeguarding from allergens.
Accompanying parents/guardians:
The Learning area is located through the grey gate beside the café in the Steadings. Please drop your child off at the smaller grey gate where we will ask you to sign your child in/out at the start and end of the session. Drop off and collection will always be at the same point.
Weather conditions/Closure:
Very occasionally we close Jupiter Artland or cancel sessions if weather conditions are unsafe for you and your little ones. We will notify you the morning of the cancelled session or if possible, the day before. We will contact you via the contact details provided in the booking form. If possible, we will find an alternative date or issue a refund. With regards to Woodland Artsparks sessions, severe winds are the biggest threat due to safety. Other weather conditions are unlikely to prevent us holding sessions/dampen our spirits: that’s why layers and waterproofs are essential.
Toileting:
Please make sure that your child visits the toilet, which can be found in the Steadings area, before the start of each session. As we spend our day in the woods, outdoor toileting is always encouraged. Children will be given a choice and if they prefer not to, they can be taken back to the indoor toilets in the Steadings Area. All leaders are trained in outdoor toileting procedures and are fully PVG Disclosed so privacy will always be maintained. Please let your leader know if you would prefer your child not to go to the toilets outdoors.
