Jupiter+ Perth

Jupiter+ Perth ran from October 2022 –January 2023 and was supported by Creative Scotland, Barcaple Foundation and Perth and Kinross council.

Jupiter’s Learning Team delivered hundreds of free learning visits to all schools and colleges in the county with the learning Studio visited by young people from across Perthshire to analyse artwork, explore their own creative voice through storyboarding, developing new filmmaking skills and produce innovative short videos that champion activism.

Perth was the first iteration of the project. The location was picked carefully on the High Street sandwiched between Clarks Shoes and a Vape Store. The learning space was upstairs providing a green screen studio, small library and workshop space.

Rachel Maclean’s MIMI STORE installation embedded within the Perth High Street ignited a rich and dynamic conversation from visitors and learners unfamiliar with contemporary art. The artwork functioned as a rupture to the day to day shopping and invited the audience to reflect on the changing functions of commercial centres and community spaces and confront the shift from the physical to the virtual and emerging platforms of human connection and exchange.
