Your Visit
You don’t need to book in advance online, but it’s best to do so for guaranteed entry on the day you want to visit.
Tickets to the Artland are non-refundable and non-exchangeable (please see our terms and conditions and your confirmation email for details).
We are happy to change your ticket for another date, so you can rebook your visit. To do this please email [email protected] with your details and the date you’d like us to change it to.
We are open Monday to Sunday. Last entry is at 4 pm when the gates will close. We ask you to finish your visit in time for when the grounds close at 5 pm.
We recommend at least two hours for your visit so that you can view the site at a leisurely pace. You can take the whole day for your visit, if you like, staying until the grounds close at 5 pm.
You are welcome to start wherever you like. However, here are some recommendations:
If you arrive on foot, you could start at The Light Pours Out of Me and work your way up the west side of the Artland, making your way around the back woods, followed by the Steadings. You can go down the east side, returning to where you started and finishing by the front gates.
If you have come by car, start your visit in the Steadings where you’ll find the toilets, shop and café. Work your way around the back woods, curving back round to Charles Jencks’ Cells of Life. Then make your way down the west side and back up the east side, finding yourself back at the main car park.
You can find the toilets, disabled toilet and baby change facilities, in the Steadings area, near the shop and the café. The toilets are about seven minutes walk from the main car park and 5 minutes from the Disabled Car Park. Unfortunately, these are the only toilet facilities on site, so please plan your visit accordingly.
The X27 bus drops off and picks up right outside our front gate. Please check the Lothian Buses website for the latest timetables.
With a dog day ticket or dog membership you can walk your dog, on a lead, around the grounds of Jupiter Artland.
Only dogs with tickets or memberships are permitted to visit. This is to help preserve Jupiter’s landscape, livestock and wildlife, and as a courtesy to other visitors and Jupiter’s children’s learning groups.
Food
In order to help look after the health of the animals and livestock on site, we do not allow visitors to bring their own food or picnic on site. You can buy food at Café Party and the Silverstreak takeaway van.
We stop serving hot food at 3 pm. After that, you can buy coffee and cake until the café closes at 4 pm.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to book a table in the café. The café operates on a walk-in basis only. Larger groups are advised to arrive early so that we can be seat you together.
